Biography

As CSO, Erica Ocampo is responsible for ensuring that The Metals Company (TMC) strategy is grounded in sustainability principles, both in its macro approach—across the value chain and customer base—and in its micro approach of addressing ESG impacts in offshore and onshore operations. She is also responsible for partnership development with customers, sponsoring states and other key regional and global stakeholders to advance the company’s sustainability goals.

Erica has over a decade of experience in sustainability strategy, engineering and manufacturing processes. Prior to TMC, Ms. Ocampo worked at Sims Limited – global metals recycling and electronics recovery company- where she led the development of a company-wide sustainability strategy— including materiality assessments, goals and KPIs development, reporting and implementation of data collection systems. Prior to her role at Sims, Ocampo spearheaded sustainability projects across various business units at Dow such as the sustainability academy, the energy bag and the sustainable chemistry index.

Ocampo received a Master’s degree in sustainability and environmental management from Harvard University Extension School and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Erica is part of the expert council of Future-Fit foundation, and a member of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) to the United States Representative to the Council of the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC).  Ocampo is passionate about nature and people, and believes that through science and collaboration, sustainability can be achieved.
