Rachel Snead

Junior Research Associate, The Center for Environmental Modeling for Policy Development

Biography

Rachel Snead is a junior research associate at the UNC Institute for the Environment. Prior to joining full-time, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies at UNC while also completing a year-long internship with the Institute. Her internship provided her with hands-on experience in supporting the development of environmental policy working with the Center for Environmental Modeling for Policy Development (CEMPD). There, she conducted data analysis and visualization for air quality and emissions data around the Los Angeles International Airport using R programming language.

Her role at CEMPD will be working on an EPA-funded project to develop a national aircraft emissions inventory using the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT), helping to support the development of the 2023 National Emissions Inventory. She will additionally assist with other projects within CEMPD.
