J. Adam Riggsbee

Biography

Adam Riggsbee is the founder and President of RiverBank Conservation, LLC, which is based in Austin, TX. Since its establishment in 2009, RiverBank has established several stream, wetland and species banks and permit-specific projects across Texas. Riggsbee is also active in the policy and practice literature as a frequent collaborator with some of the most well-recognized academics in the ecosystem services areas of research. His past works have investigated the influence of national regulations and regional policies on private investment in mitigation banking. His current research is looking into the effect of regional policies associated with stream banking markets and their effects on avoidance, minimization and stream restoration. Riggsbee also serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of North Carolina’s Institute of the Environment.

Before working in the mitigation and conservation banking industry, Riggsbee earned a B.S. in biology (botany) from Western Carolina University in the mountains of North Carolina. He later received a Ph.D. in environmental science from the University of North Carolina, where he studied fluvial geomorphology and biogeochemistry related to dam removal.
