Western N.C. Science teachers to explore the future of electricity

The UNC Institute for the Environment will host middle and high school science and technology teachers from N.C.’s western region at a day-long professional development workshop on October 3, 2016 at The Collider in Asheville.

This interactive teacher professional development workshop will provide 24 educators with instructional resources and strategies for promoting energy literacy among students as well deepen their own content knowledge about the energy sources used to generate electricity.

This professional development opportunity is made possible with funding from the Duke Energy Foundation.

Duke Energy’s support of the Institute for the Environment includes sponsorship of K-12 teacher professional development, graduate and faculty fellowships and public outreach.

Workshop activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Collider in Asheville, NC. Media members interested in attending can obtain an agenda by contacting the Institute for the Environment.
