On January 26, students toured the campus of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in RTP. The students met with a panel of scientists to discuss careers in research and learned about internship opportunities through the institute.

On January 27, students participated in a hands-on research experience with Dr. Pamela Schultz and environmental sciences and engineering (ESE) graduate students, all part of Dr. Casey Miller’s hydrology lab team. Future intensives will include tours, activities, and networking at Research Triangle Institute (RTI) and Prairie Ridge Eco-station.

IDEA 2.0 is a second renewal of an award from the National Science Foundation – Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Pathways into Geoscience (IUSE:GEOPATHS – IMPACT). IDEA 2.0 is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 undergraduate cohort. More information
