Have an internship or research project opportunity? EcoStudio has students!

March 1, 2020

EcoStudio pairs outstanding undergraduate students with faculty advisors for environmentally-focused internships, client-based research and applied learning projects. Students not only gain real-world experience, but they also can earn academic credit.

Here’s how it works: 1) EcoStudio solicits internship opportunities and independent research projects from both on-campus and off-campus organizations and lists these open positions on the EcoStudio site. 2) Students apply online, ranking up to three projects based on their interest. 3) EcoStudio collects their resumes and transcripts, vets them based on the students’ faculty reference, and then sends the project mentor a batch of qualified applicants. 4) Mentors select their preferred candidate, and EcoStudio facilitates the completion of a learning contract between the student and mentor.

Students meet regularly with faculty advisors to ensure a successful internship. If your organization is interested in hosting an intern or has a need for one or more undergraduate researchers, please contact Megan Rodgers from the Institute for the Environment’s Center for Public Engagement with Science at megan.rodgers@unc.edu or Brian Naess from the Institute for the Environment at naess@unc.edu. Positions during the spring and fall semesters can be paid or unpaid, though summer positions should be paid. The application window for summer positions opens in early March.
