Undergraduate Internships
21st Century Environmental Health Scholars (21EH Scholars)
The 21EH Scholars program provides paid environmental health sciences research experiences for undergraduate students from North Carolina Central University and UNC-Chapel Hill. Over 12 months, 21EH Scholars work closely with a faculty mentor in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, participating in cutting-edge environmental health sciences research and developing research skills as part of a lab team.
EcoStudio
The Center for Public Engagement with Science co-coordinates local environmentally focused internships through EcoStudio, a relatively new collaboration between the UNC Institute for the Environment and the UNC Environment, Ecology and Energy Program (E3P). EcoStudio offers applied learning experiences to UNC undergraduate students year-round. Since EcoStudio began in 2018, CPES has paired more than 170 UNC undergraduate students with local internships.
Sustainable Triangle Field Site Internships
The Center for Public Engagement with Science coordinates local sustainability focused internships for UNC undergraduate students through the Sustainable Triangle Field Site (STFS). Each spring, the STFS offers a semester-long, experience that enables students to pair academic studies with professional experience gained in local internship settings. Since 2012, CPES has paired more than 125 UNC undergraduates with internships through the STFS program.
