Rohan Tapiawala
Biography
Rohan is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, double majoring in Business Administration and Public Policy, with minors in Data Science and Entrepreneurship. For the past three years, he has served as a Senior Program Associate at the North Carolina Sustainable Business Council (NCSBC), collaborating with stakeholders across government, industry, and nonprofit spaces to advance sustainable business practices. He also founded The Middle Space, an initiative connecting University research with marginalized nonprofits and small businesses. Rohan’s diverse experience includes a summer of community service with a rural nonprofit partner as a SECU Public Fellow (2022) and two summers consulting with The KAL Firm (2023) and Oliver Wyman (2024). Most recently, he conducted an independently-designed research project across Denmark and Sweden, supported by the University and the UN, where he volunteered, conducted mixed-methods research, and raised capital for rural eco-villages. An astute researcher and practitioner, Rohan has authored multiple peer-reviewed papers and presented to national audiences on sustainability and education policy—his core policy areas of passion. As a Cleantech Corner Initiative intern, he is eager to contribute his expertise and learn from experts in the field as he works toward developing innovative clean technology solutions.
