Preston Gillespie

Biography

Preston Gillespie serves as executive vice president, chief generation officer and enterprise operational excellence for Duke Energy. He is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of Duke Energy’s fleet of nuclear, natural gas, hydro, solar and coal units with a generating capacity of over 50,000 megawatts. He is also responsible for enterprise operational excellence, project management and environmental, health and safety.

Gillespie has more than 35 years of experience in the energy field. He previously served as Duke Energy’s chief nuclear officer where he was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the nation’s largest regulated nuclear generating fleet.

Gillespie currently serves on the board of directors for Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited and is a member of the National Nuclear Accrediting Board for the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.
