Biography

Megan Gima has worked in the field of fisheries and aquaculture sciences for over 20 years conducting research on commercial scale aquaculture production of multiple species.  Her primary research focus has been hatchery production operations and selective breeding.  Megan received a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University and obtained a Master of Science from Auburn University with a concentration in aquaculture genetics.  She has spent the last decade on oyster research and the production of diploid and triploid-eyed larvae focusing on restoration and the off-bottom industry, respectively.  Megan is currently the Oyster Aquaculture Program Manager at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center where she manages one of the only oyster hatcheries in the country utilizing
