Mary Elbech

Biography

Mary is an integrated mobility consultant in Durham, NC working with the Dutch company, Mobycon. With a background in active transportation planning from Europe, Mary has 9 years of experience in adapting international best practices in Safe Systems and Vision Zero to work within a local context. Since 2011, she has supported communities in becoming more bicycle and pedestrian friendly through leading-edge projects around tactical urbanism, 20 mph zone policy, protected intersections, complete streets, and research on integrating new modes like e-scooters into urban infrastructure. Mary has participated in workshops and international conferences in Europe and the Americas as a speaker and organizer. She recently completed work on the Federal Highway Administration’s Bikeway Selection Guide. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina.
