Biography

Dr. Job Rijssenbeek is Vice President of Energy Storage Research & Development at Albemarle Corporation, based in Kings Mountain, NC. He leads Albemarle’s battery materials research and development efforts, which span all lithium-containing components of a battery. An accomplished global leader with strong expertise in electrochemical energy storage materials, Dr. Rijssenbeek brings 25 years of experience solving materials challenges to create differentiated products that improve customer outcomes. His R&D teams anticipate and develop the advanced materials that will unlock the full potential of lithium-based battery technology. Before joining Albemarle, Dr. Rijssenbeek was a at General Electric’s Global Research Center. Over 16 years at GE, he led several teams researching battery materials, including helping develop sodium metal halide battery technology from the lab to commercialization. Dr. Rijssenbeek received his B.A. in Chemistry from Princeton University (Princeton, NJ) and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL).
