Dr. White is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Crop and Soil Sciences at NC State University. His research interests include soil fertility and productivity, precision agriculture, remote sensing, and water quality. He teaches a dual-level course in Geographic Information Systems in Soil Science and Agriculture and a graduate course in Remote Sensing Applications in Soil Science and Agriculture. He earned a B.A. in Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry from Brandeis University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Agronomy and Soil Science from Cornell University. He then served as an agronomist on a USAID small farming systems research project in central Africa. As a post-doctoral associate at the USDA Plant, Soil and Nutrition Lab, he researched and mapped the spatial distribution of soil micronutrients in the US. He began precision agricultural research in 1996 at Mississippi State University working with corn and sweetpotato prior to coming to NCSU in late 1999.
