Jamie is a lifelong North Carolinian from Franklin County. She is running for the North Carolina State Senate in District 23. Jamie was proudly raised within the North Carolina Public School System, from her mother who was a school teacher for over 30 years to graduating from UNC as a Morehead Scholar.  Jamie has a deep commitment to our state and the people who call it home. And she’s seen firsthand how North Carolina has changed, often leaving too many of us behind. But Jamie also knows that among all the struggles, there is hope and optimism. Jamie has been a lifelong environmental advocate, 18 years ago she and her husband purchased a farm in Hillsborough and quickly began to grow their business of a sustainable farm and online farmers market. Jamie and her husband know the potential in our state from the top tier colleges and universities to the innovation in the research triangle and across the state, which is why they started the North Carolina Venture Capital Fund which focuses on start-up and early-stage investments in technology companies primarily in North Carolina, with high promise for growth in size and value. With their commitment to ethically and value-driven run business the NC Venture Capital Fund has helped and supported many diverse and underrepresented business owners get their start and have pledged 10% of the Manager’s share of the capital appreciation to the Morehead Cain Foundation, the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, the Entrepreneurship Minor or the University of North Carolina General Fund.
