Iker Chocarro

Biography

Iker Chocarro is Director, Transmission at RWE Renewables Americas. Iker joined RWE in 2014, where he is responsible of securing the transmission and interconnection of solar, wind and battery storage projects in ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM. Over the last few years he has focused on offshore wind, working on several projects in the USA. He has been part of the team that won a lease in the recent BOEM auction for Community Offshore Wind, a JV between RWE and National Grid to develop over 3GW of offshore wind in the New York Bight.

Prior to joining RWE, Iker was Engineering Manager at Acciona Energy, supervising the Balance of Plant engineering on a number of onshore wind projects in Oklahoma, Illinois, North and South Dakota and Iowa, as well as New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in Canada. Before that Iker worked from 2004 to 2008 in his native Spain on the interconnection of several wind projects, as well as grid code compliance initiatives for inverter based resources.

Iker earned an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago, a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Publica de Navarra and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Staffordshire University in the UK. He is also a IEEE PES member and a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
