Biography

Elizabeth Wallner is a senior in environmental engineering at NC State University. She has been involved in undergraduate research opportunities related to the study of water quality and wastewater systems. She spent several months analyzing the effect of harmful algal blooms and artificial mixing systems in Piedmont reservoirs. She is a volunteer with GRID Alternatives, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing solar power and employment opportunities to underserved communities. She was appointed Chair of the NC State Sustainability Fund advisory board for the 2017-2018 academic year. Elizabeth strongly believes the development of renewable energy systems is essential to improving environmental conditions and research plays a key role in solving impending water crises around the world.
