Biography

Edward Conner joined SpanSet, Inc. as President in March 2019. Prior to joining SpanSet, he worked for Lord Corporation (now Parker Hannifin) 27 years in various roles including in-country Managing Director of overseas operations in Malaysia, Germany, and China. Ed is a global business leader with success developing and executing business strategies providing unique and valued solutions to customers’ critical needs in the automotive, heavy equipment, transportation, energy, and general industrial sectors. He has held full P&L responsibility and broad functional experience, including general management, sales leadership, business development operational excellence and finance. Ed has an MBA from Gannon University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Allegheny College. He and his wife of 32 years have 2 boys and now live in Cary, North Carolina. SpanSet, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpanSet AG, headquartered in Zurich Switzerland, was established in Sanford, North Carolina in 1980. SpanSet quickly became recognized as an authority in the production of synthetic webbing used in the manufacture of flat-slings, round-slings, cargo control and fall protection products. A company of firsts, SpanSet was instrumental to introduce the first car seatbelt with Volvo in Sweden, invented the “ErgoABS” ratchet technology with Tension Force Indicators (TFI) for load securement, developed and advanced the use of synthetic rounds-slings for “below the hook” application in heavy-duty lifting, introduced Gotchaâ rescue kitsystems ensuring immediate on-site rescue of victims of industrial falls, and most recently is the first US company to introduce bio-based core yarn in its high-performance round-slings in its effort to reduce global carbon emissions.
