Chad Schuchmann

Biography

Chad Schuchmann is chief operating officer (COO) of Polypore International and president of Daramic, LLC, a Polypore International Company. As President and COO he has improved operational efficiency through consolidating operations, improving quality, increasing revenue and expanding new business.

Mr. Schuchmann spent more than nine years as a nuclear operator, leader and master training specialist in the United States Navy before transitioning to production supervision in lithium battery materials at Celgard, LLC, A Polypore International Company. He progressed through the operational and engineering hierarchy to become an engineering manager at Celgard.

Mr. Schuchmann was then promoted to internal audit director of the publicly traded parent company, Polypore International. After this, he moved into the role of vice president of the Liqui-Cel® business where he led the global specialty membrane business for Membrana, a Polypore International company, before it was sold to 3M.

From 3M, Mr. Schuchmann rejoined Polypore International as Daramic’s vice president & managing director, Americas & EMEA in January 2017 and was promoted to Daramic’s COO later the same year.

Mr. Schuchmann holds a master’s degree with a concentration in human resources management from the University of Phoenix. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas A. Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey.

Additionally, Mr. Schuchmann serves on nonprofit boards of directors and is currently a member of the Charlotte Workforce Development Board. He spends time helping and coaching local United States veterans to improve their job and career progression. He has a passion to help people and organizations succeed beyond the corporate world.

Polypore International and Daramic, LLC became Asahi Kasei Group Companies in 2015 through acquisition.
