Seeing Water From Space was a professional development workshop, coupled with a new lesson, Using Remote Sensing Data to Evaluate Water Resources in North Carolina, which was held during the summers of 2013 – 2015.

UNC – Chapel Hill faculty and regional water resource managers shared how they use satellite and field data to understand the dynamics of water resources both regionally and globally, as well as manage water resources. Participant learned how to access and analyze Landsat images, precipitation, flow, and water storage data. The program was based on the work of Dr. Tamlin Pavelsky, who was awarded a prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

This program was funded by NASA New Investigator Program under grant #NNX11AP63G.
