Manish Soni joined IE’s CEMPD as a post-doctoral research associate earlier this week. Manish has a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi, India.
His previous work experience includes assessing lightning’s impact on ozone precursors over the Indian sub-continent and its implications on tropospheric ozone; operating and maintaining one of the AERONET (a global network of sites that measure aerosol loading) sites in Jaipur in collaboration with GSFC and NASA; and studying the impact of Climate Change on glaciers in Uttarakhand with special reference to Gangotri & related glaciers – sponsored by various Indian Government entities. His research interests include analyzing satellite data especially for aerosols, numerical modeling of weather and climate, effect of aerosols on climate etc.
Manish will be taking over as the lead air quality modeler on the Transportation Equity Climate Health (TRECH) project with a focus on assessing local scale transportation policies for urban areas, with Boston as the case study.
