A graduate research fellowship at the Highlands Field Site will enable recipients to use and expand Carolina’s vast environmental research to help solve complex environmental issues that are unique to the Highlands area. The Highlands Field Site (HFS) explores the ways humans impact, modify and interact with their environment in the southern Appalachian region. Graduate research fellows at the Highlands Field Site will use tools to help them measure, understand, and communicate those impacts while working for 1 to 2 years with Carolina faculty.
