Dr. Kateryna Synylo received PhD degree in Technical Science in 2013 for her work on monitoring of aircraft engine emissions and atmospheric air pollution in the vicinity of airports. Since 2003 she works as teacher and researcher at National Aviation University (Institute of Environmental Safety), currently as an Assistant of Professor at the Chair of Civil and Occupational Safety. She has been involved in numerous national and international studies and projects related to environment protection from civil aviation impact, focused on the assessment of local and regional airport pollution.

Dr. Synylo is a visiting scientist at the UNC Institute for the Environment and collaborating with Dr. Sarav Arunachalam to apply the PolEmiCa model for the Los Angeles International airport for a model inter-comparison study funded by the FAA under the U.S. DOT ASCENT Center of Excellence.
