Experiencing Place-based Learning Outdoors in Rivers and Ecosystems of North Carolina (ExPLORE NC)
July 17, 2017 - July 20, 2017
Experiencing Place-based Learning Outdoors in Rivers and Ecosystems of North Carolina (ExPLORE NC) is a year-long fellowship program for 4th and 5th grade teachers, preparing them to incorporate current watershed science focused on distinctive aspects of local rivers and ecosystems into their instruction and use school grounds and other nearby natural resources effectively, creating opportunities for students to learn science outdoors. Teachers participate in multi-day summer institute as well as weekend science immersion experiences in their local watershed and an online professional learning community during the school year. ExPLORE NC is funded by the Eddie and Jo Allison Smith Family Foundation and the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership, and an anonymous donor.
Note, teachers must apply and be selected to participate in ExPLORE NC, so this program is not open to the general public.
