Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, but this was not the first time the U.S. citizens who live on the Island have had to contend with natural disaster. This talk by associate professor of geography Javier Arce-Nazario will situate the hurricane and its aftermath in the context of Puerto Rico’s long history of environmental challenges and the future crises promised by global climate change.
