CEMPD Brown Bag:

“Phase Transitions of Amorphous Aerosols”

Markus Petters

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

noon – 12:50 PM

IE Training Room, Suite 490, Europa Center, 100 Europa Dr., Chapel Hill, NC 27517

The 2017 CEMPD brown bag seminar series continues with a seminar on April 12 by Dr. Markus Petters, Associate Professor in the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, NC State University. The title of his talk is “Phase Transitions of Amorphous Aerosols”. Please see the attached abstract for details.

Dr. Petters’s research focuses on the processes governing aerosol condensational growth and activation as cloud condensation nuclei, and on the role of organic compounds in these processes. Dr. Petters is the 2015 recipient of the prestigious Kenneth T. Whitby award from the American Association for Aerosol Research for his pioneering research in aerosol science, and a co-editior of the journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics. He will be organizing a workshop on  Current State and Future Needs of Model Descriptions of Aerosol Hygroscopic Growth and Cloud Condensation Nucleus Activity, scheduled for October 15-16, 2017 in Raleigh (with Dr. Jonathan Reid, University of Bristol, UK, and Dr. Simon Clegg, University of East Anglia, UK).

The visitor parking is on the upper level of the parking deck (the entrance is straight up the driveway and around the circle). We look forward to seeing you for a very interesting hour over lunch!
