Mark your calendars for Mar. 29 and help the UNC Institute for the Environment exceed our fundraising goals for GiveUNC—UNC-Chapel Hill’s 24-hour giving challenge.
Last year, the Institute had a “day like no other,” raising more than $325,000 from more than 70 donors in 24 hours. The Institute placed among the top four campus units from across UNC-Chapel Hill for the second consecutive year behind only the Kenan-Flagler Business School, College of Arts and Sciences and the Gillings School of Global Public Health. GiveUNC, Carolina’s university-wide day of giving, engages alumni, friends, faculty, staff and other Carolina supporters to invest in the causes they care about most.
As a partner, here is how you can help spread the word.
- March 7: Post GiveUNC graphics on your social media accounts and encourage others to save the date.
- March 14: Post a reminder
- March 12: Tell everyone how excited you are for GiveUNC
- March 29: Share content from IE Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the day. Post that you’ve made your gift and encourage others to do the same.

The UNC Institute for the Environment (IE) fosters and conducts collaborations with faculty, students and staff across the university to identify and solve the world’s environmental challenges and sustain and improve the environment.
The IE develops multidisciplinary collaborations to understand major environmental issues and engage myriad academic disciplines, public and private partners, and an informed and committed community. Through IE’s air and water research centers, our public service and outreach, and field sites and experiential education programs, the IE provides interdisciplinary forums for faculty, students and community partners to meet pressing environmental challenges.
