ERP_diane observing EGRETERP staff held the inaugural EGRET Fellows Summer Institute from June 24th to 26th in which 25 fifth grade teachers participated in a three-day workshop at Goose Creek State Park in Washington, NC. During the workshop, teachers interacted with scientists, historians and non-formal environmental educators as they studied impacts on the Tar-Pamlico river and Pamlico sound ecosystems, how geography and availability of natural resources affected settlement in the region and continues to affect development, and the unique plant and animal populations in the river and sound.
