The Environmental Resource Program's Mission

ERP enhances public understanding of current environmental science and health research and its relevance to daily life, and empowers North Carolinians to make informed decisions that protect the environment and public health.

We base our work on current, peer-reviewed environmental science and health research, because we recognize that research results can be a powerful springboard for transforming thought and actions. Our programs are kept current and relevant through regular evaluation and revision.

We believe one of the best ways to protect the environment and public health is through an informed citizenry, yet we also recognize that all people do not have equal access to information, putting some at a disadvantage in protecting their health and communities. For this reason, we partner with established agencies and community-based organizations to reach under-resourced communities or populations whenever possible.

Within ERP, we are committed to the personal development and growth of the individuals who work with us and recognize the value of creativity and teamwork in solving problems. We are passionate and dedicated to protecting the environment and public health.
